FAQs

1. What is the maximum number of participants our school can register? Are there any age restrictions?open-img

(1) Due to limited space in the train carriages, to maintain the quality of the activities and ensure an equitable distribution of resources across all regions, each school is limited to one registration. The maximum capacity is one class (43 people, including accompanying teachers).

(2) Considering the teaching content of the activities in the carriages, it is highly recommended that students in grades 5-6 of elementary school participate. This ensures they can learn, understand scientific knowledge, and engage in hands-on activities within a shorter timeframe. However, schools retain the final authority to decide the grade level and specific participants for the actual boarding list.

2. How can I confirm if our school's registration was successful?open-img

(1) Method 1: Visit the "Registration Inquiry" page and enter the Main Contact person's email address and mobile phone number to view your registration details.

(2) Method 2: Check the inbox of the email address provided by the Main Contact person for the registration confirmation email. If you have submitted your registration but have not received a confirmation email, please contact the Working Group at the designated email address.

3. Does receiving the registration confirmation email mean we are guaranteed to participate?open-img

(1) Receiving the registration confirmation email via the Main Contact does not guarantee your school's eligibility for Boarding. The official list of selected schools will be announced on the official website in late August; please wait for the announcement.

(2) If your school is included in the official Boarding list, the Working Group will send a separate notification and contact you by phone (expected in early September).

4. If our school is selected for Boarding, how will subsequent communications be handled? How can we find out our Boarding time and train station?open-img

(1) The organizer will assign your school's Boarding train station. The local science popularization team in charge of that station will proactively contact your school's Main Contact to coordinate the Boarding time, station activities, and other logistics. If your school has not received any participation information one week before the event, please proactively contact the local science popularization team to confirm activity details. (Contact information for each local team will be provided separately by the Working Group).

(2) Information regarding Boarding times and selection announcements can be found in the "Latest News" section on the official event website (Official Website: https://www.nstctrain.tw/).

5. Can our school cancel the registration if we are unable to participate after signing up?open-img

(1) Before the registration deadline (18:00 on Friday, July 10, 2026), if your school confirms that you cannot attend the event, please immediately contact the Working Group by phone or email to cancel your registration. Once canceled, the organizer will not retain any related registration data.

(2) If your school wishes to register again, please resubmit the registration information on the "Event Registration" page before the deadline.

(3) To avoid wasting resources, once your school has received the Boarding notification and confirmed your intention to participate, please do not change your decision to facilitate subsequent event arrangements.

(4) The stopping times and dates for each station are fixed and cannot be changed. If your school is selected but cannot accommodate the scheduled time at the designated station, it will be considered a forfeiture of eligibility, and the vacancy will be filled by a school on the waiting list.

6. Are there any subsidies for participating in this event?open-img

If a school is invited to Board the Taiwan Science Train, CAITA and cooperating sponsors will cover the costs of "round-trip transportation for the day of the event" and "travel insurance." Simple meals will also be provided depending on the participation time (near noon). Participating schools are requested to comply with the following:

(1) Schools must arrange their own chartered buses and handle related communications. Each school may arrange the most suitable mode of transport according to its actual needs. Expenses will be reimbursed based on actual receipts after the event.

(2) Participating schools must submit relevant transportation details via email by the designated date before Boarding, such as a copy of the chartered bus company's remittance account and a remittance consent form. If traveling by train, please provide a copy of the teacher’s individual bank account information. After the event, the school must mail back the train tickets or group purchase certificate. The Working Group will then remit the actual ticket amount to the teacher’s individual account.

(3) Schools must send the original chartered bus invoice for the day of the activity by registered mail to the Taiwan Science Train Working Group by Friday, October 30, 2026, to facilitate reimbursement. Please note that reimbursement will not be processed if original documents are overdue, not sent, incomplete, or if the provided data is incorrect.

7. Will the event provide subsidies for meals or offer food on the day of the activity?open-img

If your school's Boarding activity falls during the lunch period (11:00 - 12:00), meals will be managed by the local science popularization teams of each county/city. Contact information for these teams will be provided along with the selection notification. Schools with Boarding times outside of the lunch period must arrange their own student meals.

8. Where and in which carriage will our school Board?open-img

(1) The organizer will arrange Boarding stations based on the school's administrative district, or arrange participation in carriage activities across different counties according to the school's preference. (For example: If OO Elementary School from Taoyuan City is selected, they will be scheduled to experience Boarding at Taoyuan Station (Departure Station) on Monday, October 19, 2026, and experience station activities after Alighting at Hsinchu Station (Arrival Station); alternatively, they may travel from their school's location in the northern region to the eastern region for Boarding.)

(2) The organizer will assign your school to a designated carriage based on the number of registered participants from each selected school. Depending on the circumstances, your school may be split into different groups or combined with other schools for the activity experience.

9. What personal items should teachers and students prepare for the Taiwan Science Train?open-img

Participants will experience science experiment booths at train stations (or nearby activity spaces), most of which are held outdoors, and engage in science teaching activities while Boarding the train. It is suggested that teachers and students bring items such as backpacks, jackets, personal medication (e.g., motion sickness medicine), paper, pens, reusable utensils, water bottles, and light raincoats, depending on their physical condition and the weather on that day.

10. In the event of government-announced closures (work/school suspension), will the organizer notify us of cancellations or postponements?open-img

If the event is affected by natural disasters, accidents, or other force majeure factors resulting in local government announcements of work or school suspensions on the day of or the day before the event, the organizer will notify participating schools in advance regarding whether the activity will be canceled or postponed, based on the status of the station activities.
